About

For her fourth album for Piano Classics Klara Würtz has chosen music from the heart of Europe, by Janáček and Kodály, music closely related to the country of its origin, its landscape, its folklore and its soul.

Janáček ’s cycles In the Mists and On an Overgrown Path contain miniatures of the most hearbreaking intimacy, from deep sorrow and melancholy to utter bliss and joy. In the works by Hungarian Zoltán Kodály there is a direct and palpable connection with the folk music of Hungary and Transsylvania. This beautiful programme concludes with an exciting rendition of the Marosszek Dances. Klára Würtz, Hungarian by birth, knows the secret language of this music, her musical intuition finding the most telling melodic inflections in this speaking music.

Klára Würtz has made over 35 CDs. Her Schubert Impromptus recording for Piano Classics (PCL0013) received rave reviews from the press: “There are just a handful of great recordings of these 8 pieces: Schnabel, Brendel, Lupu, Zimerman, Uchida, Perahia…I believe that Klára Würtz belongs to this exalted company…this is very natural and distinctive music‐making at a very high level..”” (Charles Timbrell, Fanfare). “Klára Würtz’ intelligence, technical finesse and innate musicality serve the Schubert Impromptus well” (Jed Distler, Classicstoday.com).
