About

Born in Boa Esperanca, Brazil, Nelson Friere began piano lessons at the age of three with Nise Obino and Lucia Branco, who had worked with a pupil of Liszt. He made his first public appearance at the age of five and at the age of twelve went on to win a grant at the 1st International Piano Competition with Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ concerto.

This historic recording is now made available for the first time on CD.
