Valerio Milot (harp)About
She performs Satie’s evanescent Gymnopédies, Debussy’s impressionist Clair de lune, Liszt’s timeless Dreams of love and Smetana’s Moldau.
Composed in 1950, Pour le tombeau d’Orphée by Marius Flothuis encompasses the very essence of the Dutch composer’s style: a search for purity and balance but also a union of form and content. Marcel Lucien Tournier’s Suite No.4 'Images' offers three evocative tableaux.
Légende, the first large‐scale work by Henriette Renié has appeared on the program of all her concerts with the Orchestre Lamoureux almost since its premiere. Renié’s treatment of the text (a poem by Leconte de Lisle) is essentially Romantic yet daring in its handling of the melodic and harmonic material.
The album is completed by Isaac Albeniz’ Zaragoza (Saragossa), a portrait of the city, primarily by way of traditional Aragon jotas.
Valérie Milot has won numerous competition awards, including the prestigious Prix d’Europe 2008 and the Special Prize for best interpretation of a contemporary work (performing Glenn Buhr’s Tanzmusik) in the International harp Competition of the Cité des Arts in Paris. The same year, she was named Young Soloist 2009 by the French Public Radios network, and in January 2009 she was crowned “Discovery of the Year” at the Prix Opus gala, an event organized annually by le Conseil québécois de la musique. She was also selected “Révélation Radio‐Canada Musique” for the 2009‐2010 season. Valérie Milot leads a very active career as a soloist and a chamber musician.
