About
A child prodigy, Reynaldo Hahn made his debut at the salon of the eccentric Princess Mathilde (Napoleon’s niece), accompanying himself on the piano as he sang arias by Jacques Offenbach.
Like many other French composers of the time, Hahn was attracted to Victor Hugo’s poetry and quickly became known as a composer of songs, which he wrote in the French classical tradition of the melodies.
This budget price set offers the listener a wonderful insight into this charismatic composer.
