About
One of the finest violinists of our time, Patrice Fontanarosa is currently one of the rare musicians to tackle the great violin repertoire in the most varied of venues, with an affirmed desire to open up the riches and emotions of his art to the great majority. His playing is a blend of sensitivity and sensuality. He is a member of the trio bearing their family name, with his sister Frédérique and brother Renaud.
For several years Patrice Fontanarosa was leader of the Orchestre National de France, thus playing with the greatest conductors of our time, including Abbado, Bernstein, Böhm, Maazel, Ozawa and Solti. Between 1968 and 1978, he recorded a vast repertoire of duos, trios, concertos and other works with orchestra for Decca France.
All these recordings, long absent from the catalogue, are now being re-released on CD, brought together in a handsome boxed set at a budget price. The set also includes his 1991 recordings with conductor Laurent Petitgirard, licensed for this project.
