About
“Two perfectly matched musicians operate here,” wrote distinguished New York Times critic Harold C. Schonberg. “For every bold stroke of the Casals bow there is an equivalently authoritative gesture from Serkin.”
Producer’s note: This is the original Philips edition, in stereo. The present masters start from the Philips tapes preserved in Paris (Polygram). Sony partially reissued this complete set in 2004. I do not have the precise days of recording, but they date from Prades 1953/4. Sound is incomparable!
