Andre-Michel Schub (piano)About
André-Michel Schub began piano studies with his mother at the age of four, and later studied with Rudolf Serkin at the Curtis Institute of Music. Mr. Schub not only won first prize in the esteemed Naumburg International Competition, but also was the Gold Medal winner in the sixth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He has performed with all of the major US symphony orchestras, as well as many of the top European ones. He is an artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and has taught at the Manhattan School of Music since 2006.
“…finely shaped readings, coupling the relatively rare with the oft-recorded Fine piano sound.” – Billboard
“…pianist André-Michel Schub faultlessly projects the proverbial long line in chastely energetic readings… reminding me of the late Solomon. Ideologues to the contrary notwithstanding, digital-based recording here ranks among the best piano sound ever captured – bright, solid, warm…” – Fanfare
“…the recording preserves many of Schub’s recognizable pianistic traits – the superbly disciplined digital clarity; the keen, almost flinty-eyed attack.” – Ovation
