About

This recording is presenting the rare, but in terms of sound very attractive combination of viola and harp. On this CD the Fantasy Sonata by the Englishman Arnold Bax of 1927 is the only original composition for these instruments. The Fantaisie by Saint-Saëns was originally written for violin and harp. The Sonata by Franz Schubert was primarily a composition for the newly developed Arpeggione and piano. And the last piece on this CD, Lachrymae by Britten, was written for viola and piano.

Peijun Xu was born in Shanghai and has lived in Germany for many years now. Numerous first prizes at competitions opened the doors of important concert halls for her. She is much in demand as a soloist for orchestra concerts but also a dedicated chamber musician, too. Since 2011 she is teaching the next generations in the context of several university teaching positions.

Godelieve Schrama comes from the Netherlands, where she received the Netherlands Music Award already in the year of 1996. She performs as a soloist with many famous orchestras and is a promoter of contemporary music, as well as a member of specialised ensembles as with the awarding of assignments for compositions.
