Zubin MehtaAbout
A luxury edition for collectors with an extraordinary packaging: elegant deluxe hardcover book, extensive editorial and bonus material.
Zubin Mehta, born 29 April 1936 in Bombay, took a final bow in October 2019 and retired after almost 50 years as Musical Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO).
Maestro Mehta has conducted more than 1000 concerts with orchestras from around the world, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Wiener Philharmoniker, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
This edition includes a never before released recording from Zubin Mehta’s farewell concert with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
The encore given in this concert marked the historic transition from one generation of conductors to the next, with Yefim Bronfman and Lahav Shani (Mehta’s successor as Musical Director at the IPO) performing Antonin Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance, op.72 no.2 in E minor, for piano for four hands.
The farewell concert is supplemented with an extensive and emotional interview with Zubin Mehta.
