About

Itaipu is a large-scale work for orchestra and chorus composed by Phillip Glass for the Atlanta Symphony and was premiered in 1989. It is a symphonic portrait for Chorus and Orchestra in four movements. The text is the Creation myth of the Guarani (sung in traditional Guarani).

Completing the album is Three Songs for Choir a Capella, set to texts by Leonard Cohen, Raymond Levesque and Octavio Paz, sung by the Crouch End Festival Chorus.
