About

Vivaldi’s flute concertos form a still badly defined and little known corpus. Between incomplete concertos, transcriptions [including some by Graupner] or revisions, trios or quartets equally called ‘concertos’, apocryphal pages, recently rediscovered works, those still missing but known through catalogues, the ambiguity in the use of the recorder or the flute (maintained by present day exponents), it is rather difficult to have a precise idea of the number of concertos the Venetian devoted to the flauto traversier. Six of them, however, had the good fortune to be published, and have reached us, whether in concerts or on disc.

Director and flautist, Alexis Kossenko distinguishes himself once again, after his success with CPE Bach’s flute concertos.

Recorded June 2009: l’Église de l’Assomption de la Vierge Marie du Séminaire Universitaire Catholique de oscikowo-Paradyz (Pologne).
