About

The Victorian composer Wolstenholme was blind from birth but it was clear early on that he possessed a clear musical talent. In addition to piano and organ lessons he was taught violin by Elgar in Worcester and became a life long mentor and friend. During his lifetime he composed almost 100 works for the organ as well as for military bands, piano , song cycles and church music. This is Priory’s first CD dedicated solely to his music. The organ of Port Sunlight is thought to be the only Henry Willis II which remains in its original form and is receiving its first recording.
