About

Inspired by the wonderful setting of the Music Room at Champs Hill, David Rees-Williams has recorded his first solo disc, delving into a rich English heritage of iconic national and traditional music in this significant Diamond Jubilee and Olympic year. Applying his remarkable musical mind to music ranging from the National Anthem to 'Ten Green Bottles' (via the modal Greensleeves and Elgar’s haunting Nimrod variation), David is featured as both pianist and organist, celebrating “The Full English”.

David Rees-Williams’ music transcends boundaries: some say David is a classical artiste, and others call him a jazzer. The truth is that he is very convincingly both. David treats melodious classical works with a jazz-inspired interpretation, but the original theme is never lost in his improvisation. Jacques Loussier’s Play Bach Trio popularised the genre fifty years ago, and David - often together with his Trio - has taken it to new levels of excitement and creation.

David Rees-Williams’ rendition of Purcell’s ‘When I am laid in earth’ literally stole my breath…I have been reduced to a groupie.” - Jon Snow, Evening Standard.
