About

The Swiss poetess Silja Walter, born 1919 into a literary family, entered the Benedictine Convent of Fahr, just outside Zurich, in 1948 and remained there until her death in 2011. Silja Walter was a poet of extraordinary versatility. She attained a high degree of recognition for her work, especially with her poems. She also wrote meditative observations, other prose, festival performances and oratorios as well as plays in the tradition of the sacred folk and mystery plays.

In the 1990s she entered into a close working relationship with Carl Rütti, one of Switzerland’s best-known classical composers. This CD features two of their biggest works: the Exodus Mass and Frieze of the listeners, and also includes a recording of Silja reciting her own poems.

Poems:
- Der Empfindsame
- Die Träumende
- Der Wanderer
- Der Begnadete
- Die Tänzerin
- Der Blinde
- Der Gläubige
- Die Pilgerin
- Die Erwartende
