About
This wonderful cross-section of Schubert songs presents one song from every year of his composing life. Presented by the world-famous Oxford Lieder Festival in anticipation of their 2014 Festival – where they will perform every single Schubert song – this, their first studio recording, provides a unique insight into the compositional progression of the master song composer, as well as giving a tantalizing taster of what will be a ground-breaking live event.
It features eight world-class Lieder singers, all Festival favourites, together with the Festival director Sholto Kynoch at the piano. The booklet contains full texts, English translations and detailed notes by Gavin Plumley.
A delightful and enlightening CD for all those interested in Schubert’s songs.
