About
This is our second disc of Australian art songs performed by one of Australia’s leading sopranos, Lisa Harper-Brown, and her excellent accompanist, David Wickham.
This volume focuses largely on works by Margaret Sutherland (1897-1984) and Peggy Glanville-Hicks (1912-1990), names that may be familiar to some Australian music aficionados, but seldom reach the ears of the wider listening public – a great shame, as they show not only a great affinity to the wider genre of English song, but also track their own distinctive musical path.
This is wonderful introduction to some rarely-heard composers, with full texts and excellent notes by the pianist.
