About
'The Queen of Instruments and Light Entertainment': this must be a pair of opposites! For the fourth time the Swiss organist Ursula Hauser combines two worlds of experience that shaped her own musical career. Together with flautist Ursula Bosshardt, the musician has made this recording (performed on the Spaeth organ of Grubenmann Church in Wädenswil), on the trail of a seemingly disappearing musical culture. They dug up records which showed music that blew through salons or tea dances or accompanied the colourful carnivals - set for hurdy-gurdy boxes or fairground organs.
Hear Scott Joplin's Weeping Willow or Jacques Offenbach's Barcarolle in a whole new colour. Indestructible hits such as the German Master Regiment March written by Wilhelm August Jurek or even John Philip Sousa's Semper fidelis appear in a new musical light.
