Kenneth Weiss (harpsichord)About
This is Kenneth Weiss’s third J S Bach recording for Satirino records and his third recording on an historic instrument from the Paris Musée de la musique collection, this time the Ruckers-Taskin.
Recording the Well-Tempered Clavier, ‘a gift to humanity’, as Kenneth writes in his introductory note, is of course a land- mark event in any artist’s career and we are very proud to be able to present this recording.
Richard Langham Smith has written a liner note that is both of interest to the well-informed and comprehensible to the novice, taking into account recent research into the historic context, the flux of styles and of course the all-important question of tuning.
The cover image was commissioned from the young German photographer Moritz Kerkmann and the sound balance, as in all our recent recordings, is the inimitable work of Jiri Heger. The booklet also contains a detailed presentation of the Ruckers-Taskin harpsichord (1646 / 1780) and all the texts are presented in English, French and German.
