Joseph Kelemen (organ)About
This recording of works by Hieronymus and Jacob Praetorius, Jr. (father and son) leads listeners to the threshold of the Renaissance to the early Baroque period, with the origins of North German organ music.
Joseph Kelemen plays the Scherer Organ in Tangermünde. This organ of the Church of St Stephan in the Hanseatic city of Tangermünde was built by Hans Scherer the Younger together with his brother Fritz in the years 1623/24, as a gift from the city of Hamburg. It has over 32 stops on three manuals and pedals. About 50% of the pipes (including all the front pipes) as well as the carved casing have been preserved in their original form.
