About
This recording contains three absolutely amazing and stunning piano transcriptions!
Igor Khudoley, famous Russian pianist and composer, wrote his Boris Godunov suite after Mussorgsky’s opera in 1988. This fresco‐like work conjures up the tale of Boris, a Russian tragedy, with the rich orchestral textures captured in larger than life pianism of unprecedented invention and difficulty - the bell scenes magnificently caught.
The excitement and thrill of Mussorgsky’s orchestral work Night on Bald Mountain is superbly maintained in Khudoley’s brilliant transcription, a pianistic tour de force of the highest order. Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet is transcribed by Florian Noack, as fresh and colourful as the original.
Russian pianist Valery Kuleshov is a Silver Medal prize winner at both the prestigious Cliburn Competition and the Busoni Competition. His technique seemingly has no limitations, and his palette of colours, sense of structure and range of sonorities in these transcriptions are beyond belief.
