Agnieszka Frankow-ZelaznyAbout
The NFM Choir under the direction of Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny invites us on a journey across Poland to reveal what an unusual and varied cultural heritage we are dealing with.
Featured works come from the Kurpie, Wielkopolska (Greater Poland), Kaszuby (Kashubia), Warmia, Podlasie (Podlachia), Lublin, Podhale and Śląsk (Silesia) regions. Particularly interesting is the diversity of these regions, accentuated by their regional costumes, rituals, folk dance, instruments and even culinary traditions.
The featured songs allow us to become acquainted with these specific differences by listening carefully to the local dialect, melodies based on modal and highland scales as well as rhythmic structures where we find many typical characteristics of folkloric dance culture (rhythms of the ‘pacer’ polonaise, krakowiak and mazurka rhythms).
