About
Kirill Troussov currently numbers among the most sought-after violinists worldwide, and why this is so is shown on this new album recorded with sister Alexandra Troussova and marking his MDG debut.
This brother and sister performed together on the stage even when they were children – so it is hardly surprising that they have developed a perfect mutual understanding.
On this debut recital CD we find musical favourites like Khachaturian’s 'Sabre Dance' and Rachmaninov’s 'Vocalise' as well as Alfred Schnittke’s wonderful 'Suite in the Old Style' and Prokofiev’s Sonata No.2 offering a fond homage to long-forgotten times.
Troussov’s violin, one of the most significant of all musical instruments, also recalls the past: Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto was premiered on the Brodsky Stradivarius once owned by Adolf Brodsky, and Troussov in every way proves to be the legitimate heir to this tradition.
