While performing as a violin virtuoso, Nicolaus Bruhns occasionally accompanied himself on the organ pedal and – according to some reports - also sang at the same time!
Ingo Duwensee has recorded Bruhn’s few surviving organ works on the historic organ in Altenbruch.
Recorded in MDG’s 2+2+2 surround sound, this recording is both a sonic pleasure for the ears and an interesting survey of Bruhns’ organ compositions - Johann Sebastian Bach acquired a copy of the great Prelude in E minor, an outstanding example of the stylus phantasticus.
