About
The date on the manuscript of the first movement of a Sonata for Violin and Piano, abandoned by the composer after the first page of the second movement is '5th of October 1911, Cracalia'. This fragment belongs to a series of works either lost or left incomplete, in a time of Enesco's life which seems to have been dominated by both personal and artistic uncertainties.
Ysaye's Sonata for Two Violins, an instrumental combination quite rarely met, was written during the self-imposed exile in London, where the composer had found a refuge against the war. This period was the most productive of his creative life.
