About
The selection from these works presented on this recording splendidly documents the contemporary violin technique. Farina not only influenced the great German violinists of his time but also of later generations with names like Schmelzer, Biber and Walther.
Leila Schayegh’s recordings have been rewarded with the Diapason d’Or of the Year (France), Gramophone Editor’s Choice (for Bach Sonatas on Glossa GCD923507) and a long list of the best German record prizes.
Her virtuoso and lively playing on this CD gives the listener an idea of the legacy Farina left behind.
“This is the kind of recording I really love hearing … Leila Schayegh and Jorg Halubek , both products of the Schola Cantorum in Basel, give absolutely wonderful renditions of five remarkable pieces.” - Early Music Review, December 2012
