About

This seventh volume of Fritz Kreisler’s complete recordings takes us to the end of his acoustic sessions and to the first to use the new Victor electric system. Kreisler was exceptionally busy after the turmoil of WWI with a comeback in America, groundbreaking global tours, and a warm welcome back to England after being considered an ‘enemy alien’ during the war. At HMV he was joined by cellist Hugo Kreisler, whose fine singing legato adds a breath of Viennese style to the sound. At the introduction of microphone recording with its heightened realism and fidelity, Fritz Kreisler’s playing was still at its peak, also benefitting from his favourite 1733 Stradivarius in Victor’s New York studio.

In his day, Fritz Kreisler did much to establish the gramophone as part of our domestic furniture while at the same time making his name famous around the world. Award-winning producer Ward Marston’s meticulous revivals of these invaluable sonic artefacts now allow collectors and connoisseurs to experience them in the best way modern technology can allow.

Using our highest standards of audio restoration and remastering, this ongoing series of the complete Fritz Kreisler recordings has become the main reference for these historic recordings. Reviews have included comments such as “the results are incredible” (ClassicsToday.com on Vol.3, 8110922), and “Kreisler’s golden sound and inimitable sense of timing remains unequalled in these sweetmeats” (BBC Music Magazine on Vol.5, 8111398).
