Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937) was the most celebrated Polish composer of the early 20th century. He is counted as a member of the modernist movement Young Poland. This recording includes the Mazurkas op.50 nos. 1-7, 11-15, 17 & 19, composed between 1924 and 1925, and his Piano Sonata no.1, op.8.
In the words of former New York Times music critic Harold Shoenberg, Korean pianist Sang Mi Chung is a “Pianist with technique, temperament, and real personality.”
