Echoes from the other Shore, written for zheng and orchestra, is based on four central core notes that originate from the folk music of Central Asia. In The Nature’s Dialogue for orchestra and audio tapes, on the tapes there is a widespread collection of sounds of nature from across the world. They form an integral part of the sonorous and compositional structure of the piece. Across the Skies is a term borrowed from a Chinese idiom, meaning a heavenly steed galloping across the sky and with a sharp contrast in style, and the last piece, Lonely Song for 42 strings, creates a good deal of dramatic tension.
