Luigi Moretti (1774-c.1856) was a nobleman, scholar, music teacher and composer. His principal works were written for the guitar, although he also produced remarkable compositions for the voice and for piano. He was one of the finest members of the splendid group of Italian proponents of guitar music during the first quarter of the 19th century, whose works inexplicably fell into oblivion. Thanks to the talent and pioneering spirit of Marcello Fantoni, Dynamic is proud to fill that void with these world premiere recordings of Moretti’s works. They reveal the expert hand of an up-to-date and cosmopolitan composer, and feature the remarkable interpretative skills of a young and talented guitarist.
