This is no coincidence, because Clementi was famous among his contemporaries and generations later as a teacher and innovator of playing technique, but he also distinguished himself as a music publisher and piano maker.
Almost forgotten is his remaining opus, which goes far beyond his pedagogical pieces and has only been rediscovered in recent years. His late pianistic works, which Eduardo Torbianelli recorded on a fortepiano made by Clementi & Co., can be compared in quality and originality with Beethoven’s late works.
