In the world of music, focus points and fashion styles may come and go, but examining the possibilities and the art of the trio still remains one of the central activities in jazz. How can the mere fact that three people meet and make music on three basic instruments piano, double bass, drums still give us such massive excitement, both as musicians and listeners? Long-serving Norwegian unit Eple Trio is such a band, constantly searching for new ways to create or define beauty, with elements of Nordic folk tunes and baroque music all within the context of a modern jazz trio. The excellent performances captured on Ghosts contain selections from the trio’s five albums released since 2007, seamlessly blending into each other.

NXN Recordings is a new record label from Oslo, Norway, and distributed globally by the Naxos Music Group. We believe that the shape of sound is unlimited and our goal is to release new Northern music that will inspire and surprise you. NXN Recordings aims to be a platform for releasing new music particularly from the vibrant music scene in Norway.
