About

As principal piccolo soloist of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Peter Verhoyen has built up an excellent reputation as a specialist on his instrument. Together with pianist Stefan De Schepper, he developed various concert programmes and CD recordings for piccolo and piano.

With these projects he demonstrates that the piccolo earns a spot on the concert stage as a recital instrument and teamed with his daughter on this recording, he presents the works for flute and harp. For this new recording, they offer traditional pieces by Donizetti, Bartók and Fauré, coupled with several Flemish composers who he commissioned to write new works for his instrument. The result is a delightful disc exploring the different tonality offered by the versatility of flute and piccolo, accompanied by harp.

Together with Stefaan Craeynest, Peter is the co-founder of Arco Baleno, a chamber music ensemble consisting of string quartet and flute. With Arco Baleno and other ensembles, he has made several CDs as well as various radio recordings.
