About
This new addition to our popular Organ Encyclopedia catalogue follows on from organist Tom Winpenny’s recording of Judith Bingham’s Jacob’s Ladder and other organ works on Naxos 8572687, in which ‘Winpenny opens an illuminating window on Bingham’s richly coloured, programmatically driven engagement with the “king of instruments”’ (BBC Music Magazine). This new release also joins a Naxos disc of Bingham’s choral works including The Secret Garden (8570346) which was a Gramophone Editor’s Choice and described as ‘enchanting and involving’ by MusicWeb International.
Tom Winpenny’s ever-increasing catalogue of titles for Naxos includes Messiaen’s La Nativité du Seigneur (8573332) and L’Ascension (8573471), and music by Malcolm Williamson (857137576) played ‘with skill and commitment’ (MusicWeb International). Winpenny also directs St Albans Cathedral Girls Choir in recordings of music by Mendelssohn (8572836), William Mathias (8573523) and Michael Haydn (8574163).
