Marco Rogliano (violin)About
Violinist Marco Rogliano has appeared at the world's most important venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Grosser Saal of Berlin’s Philharmonie, the Herkulessaal in Munich, and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow. Particularly committed to Italian violin repertoire of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, his discography includes many world premieres of works by composers such as Paganini, Rolla, Respighi, Zanella and Sciarrino.
“This project was initially a programme for one of my solo violin recitals and includes Paganini’s short but emblematic Capriccio In cor più non mi sento, which is not very well known in its extant autograph 1821 version. I have also gathered a series of short and characterful solo pieces by Nicolò Paganini, recently published and never recorded before, followed by some works by five Italian 19th-century violinist/composers: Onorio De Vito, Giuseppe Austri, Bernardo Ferrara, Carlo Bignami and Ferdinando Giorgetti. These composers had gained the respect and admiration of Paganini for their brilliant instrumental and didactic skills. Paganini, with his many personal and professional relationships and his inexhaustible creative genius, was therefore the beacon that guided my research, which has led to the rediscovery of some extremely interesting Italian repertoire for solo violin from the 19th century. Indeed, my recording also attests to the existence of a first-rate Italian violin school present in many areas of my country during the 1800s.” – Marco Rogliano
