About
Singer Lina Nyberg and pianist Daniel Karlsson have both had brilliant careers in Sweden and internationally through the years. The duo album The Night and the Music contains a string of famous songs inspired by nighttime.
A number of jazz standards and evergreens has been carefully selected, all taking us step by step through evening, night and finally to early morning. You will hear classics like Red sails in the sunset and Thelonius Monk's Round midnight combined with modern hits such as Good morning starshine from the musical Hair, but also Samuel Barber's famous composition of James Agee's poem Sure on this shining night. With these melodies, the duo creates an inspiring musical experience for the listener and discovers new worlds in the music.
Lina Nyberg was born in 1970 in Stockholm and studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. For 25 years she has worked as a jazz singer and composer in Scandinavia but has also toured extensively abroad, in recent years in the USA, Canada and South America. She is a pioneer that always trail to find new paths and keeps inspire musicians in the following generations. Lina has made 20 records as a soloist, producer and arranger, from symphony orchestra and big band to duo. From the now classic debut "Close" (Prophone / Touche 1993) with Esbjörn Svensson, to the album "The Clouds" (Hoob records 2020) where she composed for her tentet.
