Josefine Opsahl (cello, live electronics)About
Josefine Opsahl (b. 1992) is an artist and composer who connects music, art, performance and spaces in her works. She extends her classica musical training, perception of art and self into different new medias of expression.
With an openness to sound, genre, the use of electronics and her main instrument, the cello, Josefine’s works unfold in the intersection between tradition and renewal, expertise and intuition, the score and the improvised.
The album Atrium consists of works for solo cello and electronics, composed, performed and recorded by Josefine Opsahl.
On Atrium, Opsahl is occupied with themes such as marginalised female figures, architectural spaces and the dualities soft/hard, organic/manufactured, natural/cultural, woman/machine.
Josefine Opsahl has a fruitful career as both solo and ensemble musician . As a composer, she’s written both choral and instrumental works, performance works and lately the opera DrømmeDøden which was premiered in Copenhagen and Stockholm in June 2022.
