Aimi Kobayashi was one of the most experienced competitors at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. The 26-year-old Japanese pianist is an artist who already enjoyed high-profile appearances in her mid-teens, but perhaps more pertinently from a competition point of view, she is a laureate of several international contests.
She certainly knew what to expect in Warsaw: at the previous edition (in 2015) she had reached the Final, winning admiration for her flawless, perfectly turned out performances.
Now she joins an elite group of pianists who can add 'Chopin Competition prizewinner' to their CVs. At Warsaw in October 2021 she took fourth prize, ex aequo with Jakub Kuszlik.
