About

On 21 November 2021, Nelson Freire was taken before his time. One year on, we remember him with a new collection of previously unreleased Decca recordings, bonus tracks making their debut on disc and rare radio broadcast tapes; some of Nelson’s finest performances from a time he rarely recorded commercially. The collection is accompanied by a new essay by Dominic Fyfe, Nelson’s long-time Decca producer.

The Berlin Sessions
- Rediscovered, unreleased recordings from 2014 of Gluck, Bach and Beethoven’s Andante favori – his only recording of this piece

Rare Radio Tapes
- Broadcast concerto performances from 1970-1985 including Beethoven’s Fourth and Brahms’s Second, Bartók’s First and Richard Strauss’s Burleske

New to CD
- Bonus tracks never before released on CD including music by his beloved Villa-Lobos and Debussy
