About

Acoustic guitarist Adam Palma is accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio Amadeus, led by renowned Polish conductor, Agnieszka Duczmal.

'Second Life' is a hugely personal record, an intimate look at music and life from the perspective of a man who 'regained' his life after waking from a long coma. Recovering gave Adam time to reflect, to review his own musical roots, and to view his life deeply from a new perspective. We hear the songs that the soloist grew up listening to: folk melodies, a scout song, a song belonging to the patriotic trend of music, known film themes, Chopin's compositions (never before performed on the guitar), and Adam's own compositions that show what he himself describes as his Polish soul.

All the arrangements have been written by Adam Palma and orchestrated by the outstanding Polish film score composer Krzesimir Debski.

Adam Palma graduated with honours from the Music Academy in Katowice, gained a Doctoral degree at the Music Academy in Gdańsk, and is now a tutor at the University of Salford in Manchester, UK. Adam has recorded and performed with many top Polish artists and, since moving to the UK, he has performed with Al Di Meola, Tommy Emmanuel, Bireli Lagrene, and many more. His unique style mixes jazz, classical music, blues, rock, funk, latin and country music. In 2020, Adam spent 44 days in a coma on a ventilator due to Covid-19. Since then, he has recovered and is back to playing and writing. He has been living with his wife and son in Manchester, UK since 2006.

Agnieszka Duczmal founded the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio. From the beginning of the Orchestra's operation, Agnieszka Duczmal has been its managing and artistic director. Leading symphony orchestras in Poland and abroad, Agnieszka Duczmal is the first woman conductor to have performed at Milan's La Scala. To date, she has released over fifty records with Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra 'Amadeus', has recorded countless pieces for the Polish Radio, over one hundred concerts and musical programmes. In 2021, the maestra received the prestigious Polish Radio award - Diamond Baton for outstanding conducting achievements and making Polish music famous abroad.
