In this release, Anna continues her collaboration with legendary conductor Neeme Järvi on a project of recording the complete works for piano and orchestra by Anton Rubinstein (1829–1894). This release featuring Rubinstein’s Concertos nos. 3 and 5 marks the second instalment in the series.
Born in Ukraine, Anna received her early music education at Kharkiv Special Music School. Since graduating from the Julliard School with a master’s degree in the class of Jerome Lowenthal, Anna makes her home in New York City with her husband and two sons.
“This second installment in Anna Shelest’s survey of Anton Rubinstein’s five piano concertos confirms that her virtuosity, warmth, and commitment make her an ideal interpreter of his works.…Neeme Järvi stands out from other major conductors in his willingness to undertake obscure scores. He leads a vigorous accompaniment and gets playing from the Estonian National Symphony that reflects Rubinstein’s ‘force of nature’ approach….” – Huntley Dent, Fanfare, September/October 2019
