About

A new inexpensive box set now features all of the symphonic works by Graz-born composer Siegmund von Hausegger, as well as his three anthems. The works to be heard span virtually the entire career of the great symphonic composer: from the successful, youthful first work of the Dionysian Fantasy to the latecomer of Aufklänge (1917), a decidedly successful variation work on the nursery rhyme "Schlaf, Kindchen, schlaf". His main work, the powerful Nature Symphony, his compact symphonic poem Wieland der Schmied (Wieland the Blacksmith), and the composer's former main success, Barbarossa from 1899, are of course not missing from the complete box set. So look forward to much powerful symphonic music by a composer who, like Felix Weingartner or Wilhelm Furtwängler, received even greater recognition as a conductor.
