About
In a programme that is as varied as it is entertaining, Sebastian Pachel, together with Kreuzorganist Holger Gehring on the large Jehmlich organ of the Kreuzkirche in Dreden, demonstrates the whole variety of fusion and dialogue, of soloist counterpart and fusing overall sound.
The breathtaking acoustics of the enormous church building of the Dresden Kreuzkirche do their part to create a special sound experience. The phenomenal spatiality is particularly evident in the three-dimensional multi-channel reproduction of this high-resolution Super Audio CD.
Especially in the concertante works, Pachel proves to be a brilliant virtuoso who, in the arrangements of Bach's organ chorales, also knows how to blend into the organ sound. Nora Koch's harp playing adds a new facet to the already colourful spectrum in Fauré's In Paradisum - and Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances.
It is fitting that Pachel plays a Romanian instrument. And of course the encore must not be missed: The Lark by the Romanian pan flute idol Angheluș Dinicu demands the utmost dexterity - a feast for Sebastian Pachel, who is assured of jubilant applause with this bravura finale.
