Maria Gabrys-Heyke (piano)About
Thanks to their extremely intensive teaching activity, they had a significant impact on several generations of pianists of such caliber as Raoul Koczalski, Róża Etkin, Wanda Landowska, Jerzy Lefeld, Ludomir Różycki, Piotr Rytel, Władysław Szpilman and Jerzy Żurawlew. They also contributed to the creation of Chopin style. While their didactic and popularising activity is present in the consciousness of contemporary pianists, their compositional output remains almost completely unknown. The extraordinary beauty of compositions by Karol Mikuli and Aleksander Michałowski is recorded here on CD by an excellent pianist and outstanding specialist in period instruments, Maria Gabryś-Heyke.
The album, presenting these eminent figures and their rich piano and composing activities, not only complements the images of Karol Mikuli and Aleksander Michałowski, but also seems to be a very valuable addition to the "obligatory" knowledge of every fan of Fryderyk Chopin's work.
