These works invariably surprise us with the possibility of reinterpreting them, thus showing their next, as-yet-unknown facet.
This new orchestration shows the values of the usually underestimated orchestral part, emphasises the secondary elements of the score and the role of dialogue between instruments. Experiments with phrase, articulation, unrestricted tempi, mystical lyricism and virtuosity that do not disturb the logic of the musical narrative are strengths of this innovative exploration of both concertos.
Polish pianist Radosław Sobczak, together with the Podlasie Chamber Orchestra and conductor Kazimierz Dąbrowski, took advantage of this opportunity. It is a creation completely different from the one that may still be remembered by fans of the Chopin Competition who followed the preparations of the Polish team in 2000. Sobczak, back then recognised with the award for the best Polish participant, today presents the liberated facet of a mature musician.
