Spanning Mozart’s career, the programme includes Conservati fedele (K23), Per pietà, bell’idol mio (K78), Ch’io mi scordi di te? (K505) and Vado, ma dove? (K583).
These works, written for specific singers and occasions, combine dramatic intensity with lyrical refinement, showcasing Mozart’s gift for expressive vocal writing and orchestral colour.
This recording brings together Fox’s operatic experience and the orchestra’s distinctive sound in a focused exploration of these finely crafted concert works.
Sarah Fox was educated at Giggleswick School, London University and the Royal College of Music. A former winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award and the John Christie Award, she is also an Honorary Fellow of Royal Holloway College, London University.
The Castile and León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL) is a project of the Regional Government of Castile and León. It gave its first performance in September 1991 and has since established itself as one of the most prestigious symphonic institutions on the Spanish scene. Swiss maestro Thierry Fischer is currently the principal conductor, while Vasily Petrenko and Elim Chan are associate conductors.
