The Ganassi Consort, joined by guest violinist Anne Röhrig, illuminate the astonishing breadth of Handel's imagination across four decades of his creative life, revealing music of remarkable elegance, invention, and emotional depth.
The musicians approach these sonatas not as polite salon works, but as dramatic utterances alive with rhetorical nuance, daring ornamentation, and richly characterised continuo playing. Recorder, flute, oboe, violin, and viola da gamba each speak with a distinctive vocal personality, while Joachim Vogelsänger's imaginative harpsichord realisations lend the entire set an improvisatory freshness that recalls the spontaneity of Handel's own circle.
