To mark the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth, pianist Élisabeth Pion, harpist Valérie Milot, the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra, and conductor Alain Trudel have come together for an album exploring the subtle connections between the piano and the orchestra in the French composer’s work. Titled Ravel - Le Tombeau de Couperin and Concertante Works, this recording offers a refined and luminous interpretation of several major works from Ravel’s repertoire.

Conceived by Alain Trudel as a tribute to Ravel’s characteristic modesty and elegance, the programme highlights an orchestral approach inspired by the composer’s chamber music and piano writing. The album notably features Le Tombeau de Couperin in its complete orchestral version, including Kenneth Hesketh’s orchestrations for the Fugue and the Toccata, the famous Pavane pour une infante défunte, Introduction et Allegro for harp and orchestra, as well as the flamboyant Concerto in G.

A Radio-Canada Revelation for 2024–2025 and winner of the 2025 Honens Competition, Élisabeth Pion stands out for a style that blends sensitivity and intensity, while Valérie Milot, a leading figure in the Canadian harp world, brings the full richness of her tone and artistic vision. Under the baton of Alain Trudel, the OSTR unfolds a richly coloured orchestral palette, bringing out both the intimacy and the playful, modern spirit of Ravel.
