About

‘Believe in Love’ is brought to us through Richard Bonynge’s new long-term recording partnership with Melba Recordings. Featuring the soprano Elizabeth Whitehouse, the disc presents a stunning programme of arias from rare and half-forgotten French and Italian operas from the 19th and 20th centuries.

During his long and fruitful career, Richard Bonynge has played a major role in researching and reviving forgotten scores, completing new editions of well known masterpieces, and offering the opera world a new insight into its rich and glorious repertoire. He developed interest in Handel’s Operas and Oratorios decades before the baroque movement, and has also uncovered many gems in the British Opera repertoire. But his most important achievements, both as a conductor and musicologist, reside in his work on 19th Century French and Italian repertoire.
