About

In 2002, Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl was murdered in Afghanistan by Jihadi extremists. That a journalist intent on getting to the truth, and in no way party to any violence, could have met his end in such a way, shocked the world. In 2004, Dave Heath received a call from Daniel Pearl's father Judea, who had heard one of Heath's pieces Sirocco and wanted to commission a piece in Daniel’s honour.

Elegy for Daniel Pearl for violin and piano was then used by Muslim filmmaker Ahmed Jamal as the theme music to his moving and powerful documentary tribute to Daniel - The Journalist and the Jihadi, shown on HBO and CNN in 2006

Song for Daniel Pearl is a re-working of the main theme from 'Elegy for Daniel Pearl' and is played here by world renowned performers - oboist, John Anderson and organist, Andrew Lucas (master of the music at St Alban's Abbey Hertfordshire).

Also featured on this CD are: violinists Clio Gould (The Celtic) and Ittai Shapira (Elegy for Daniel Pearl), and saxophonist Simon Haram.
