Summer 2008 sees Tania debut on the prestigious opera stage of the UK Glyndebourne Festival in the title role of Carmen (July-August).
Mezzo soprano Tania Kross represented the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the 2003 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Tania Kross was elected by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw as the rising Star of the season 2004/2005. She gave a recital in the Kleine Zaal, and went on tour singing in many prestigious concert halls throughout the world, including; Paris, Salzburg, Vienna, Athens, Birmingham, Cologne, and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Tania Kross can be heard in many opera productions, i.e. at the Staatsoper Hannover where she has been a member of the ensemble (as Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, as Sesto in Händel’s Giulio Cesare, as Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly), at the Nationale Reisopera (i.e. Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Baba the Turk; Verdi’s La Traviata, Flora), and at the Staatsoper Hamburg (as Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel), as Siébel in Gounod’s Faust,and as Bersi in Umberto Giordano’s Andrea Chenier (ZaterdagMatinee, Concertgebouw Amsterdam), Zita in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Segesta in Von Biber’s Arminio, Orlofsky in Strauss’ Fledermaus and the title role in Bizet’s Le Tragédie de Carmen, a production directed by Pierre Audi.
In Amsterdam at De Nederlandse Opera she made a well received debut as Lola in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, conducted by Carlo Rizzi and directed by Guy Joosten, and will return there as La Messagiere, Melanto and Fortuna in the revival of the Monteverdi cycle.
In 2008 Tania Kross makes her debut at La Monnaie as Tolomeo in Händel’s Giulio Cesare, conducted by René Jacobs and directed by Mr and Mrs Hermann, followed by a Rake’s Progress (Baba the Turk).
In the summer of 2008 she sings Carmen in Glyndebourne with Stephane Denève conducting and David McVicar directing. Last season Tania Kross has made her debut both with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev, and with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, directed by Philippe Herreweghe.
Tania Kross is an exclusive artist on the Philips label, Her first cd, Corazón, with classical music from Latin America and the Caribbean, was awarded the Edison for the best classical music cd of the year. With pianist Marietta Petkova Tania Kross sings "Arie Antiche" on her second cd. (4428466)
Krossin’GoudA is Ms. Kross’ own vocal music festival, which takes place in the ancient city of Gouda in cooperation with Museum GoudA every year in early summer.
